Slow Summer
from Out With Lanterns
It’s past the summer solstice, and one might argue I’m not making much of summer so far. Just planting a few vegetables, going on long walks. Every day I see photos of friends in glamorous locations, plates of cheese and honey, sparkling wines and rooftop parties. I am happy for them. But I have a new blossom on my zucchini vine and today I read out on the back porch until I fell asleep to the song of a red house finch. My daughters made lemonade from lemons they picked off our little backyard tree, and I suppose I’d argue that this is my kind of glamour.

Refreshing 😊
I think you need to visit some extended family. The best cure for not-enough-ness. :)
