Quiet Delay
from Out With Lanterns, a daily poetry practice
When I have nothing to say, I say nothing. Go quiet. The world does not need more noise. It needs only careful attention. Our flight to see our daughter is delayed–weather or unpaid air traffic controllers– we’re not sure. All I want is to hold her, smell her. Still, I practice patience. I breathe deep, notice, watch people and send light into dark spaces. This quiet is all I can do right now.

Beautiful. I can feel your quiet xo
