Litter
from Out With Lanterns, a daily poetry practice
I write so much about the finches and owls and crows, people must think I live in an old growth forest. I don’t. Also along my morning walk I find a tossed off beer can, a bright blue New York Times bag, a spent Twix wrapper, and an In-N-Out Receipt. It’s just that I learned long ago– what you choose to focus on matters, and what you choose to do about it matters. So I pick up trash, and then I write about trees and birds and sky.

Love this! Me, too, Julie.
Needed this reminder today: "what you choose to focus on matters,/
and what you choose to do about it matters." Lovely, all of it!!! Thank you!
