of these days
I am belaboring
delaying goodnight
so I stand outside
and watch the sky
which is not yet dark
this far north
Earth’s tilt an ally
like that friend
who notices
my quiet
kindred kindness
so she lights a candle
to stave off darkness
because of her
I go to bed
not forgetting
