Is it possible we’re facing the wrong direction when we say our prayers? What if we’re looking to the sky, but the ground is where we should ask for guidance? This soil grows food that sustains us. These rivers bring us water. These trees bring us shade, lumber, oxygen. Are they not worth worshiping? I don’t mean to sound blasphemous, but I think maybe God is not in the sky and never has been. Perhaps the kingdom of heaven is in the earth, under our feet. Maybe it’s time we remember to worship the land, not the stars.
