Last night my dog slept behind me big spoon style. She ran in her dream and my body was the forest floor. Her paws tapped my back, but before they woke me, I dreamt I was a horse running alongside her. Who’s to say, in a past incarnation, we weren’t two wild mares racing through the foothills? Thanks for being here for my inaugural Substack post! “Out With Lanterns” will be my daily poetry practice shared online. I have hundreds of poems just sitting in a file, and I write a new one every day. Why not make a conversation out of them? Your thoughts and comments (kindness required) are welcome. I’m still writing memoir, am hard at work on book #2, but my daily practice includes both prose and poetry. I’d love to find a community of fellow writers, memoirists, poets, and readers.
